Diamonds are Forever, Wildfox Swim 2013

Hey guys! Here is another shoot for you! Beautiful Cintia Dicker stars as a bad ass bond spy, I hope you love it, Cintia is just a dream come true... she has been one of my favorite models since I got into fashion years ago.

Cruise 2013 marks the second season of swimwear for Los Angeles-based women’s brand, Wildfox Couture.  Designer Kimberley Gordon says, “The new collection is inspired by a totally American girl who lives for traveling. She dreams of England and hotel rooms, she loves flowers and diamonds, and she loves decadence!  She’s a Bond Girl, a 60’s bombshell who dyes her hair all shades of colors and meets beautiful men everywhere she goes.  She wakes up at six in the morning to catch the sunrise and does laps in her giant, turquoise pool. She is always ready to pack her bags and fly to another country, stay in another hotel, she travels lightly, packs bikinis, sparkly dresses and beach cover ups. This girl always has her swimsuit in her purse or her glove compartment, she's always ready for her next big adventure, and she's always ready to make new friends... wherever she goes.” With the help of swimwear designer, Leilani Shimoda, the girls set out to make a collection of swimwear that was bold, fun, confident and for all sorts of body types!

With theme-appropriate names such as the Foxy Fairchild mono-kini and the Ava Cuddlewell bikini bottom, all swimwear styles are constructed of Nylon/Spandex Tricot fabric, which is soft, lightweight, and comfortable. Both Union Jack and American flags are printed across a variety of styles within the I See London and American Girl sets, while ruffle trimmed bottoms and figure flattering tops add feminine elements to the floral and star patterned selection.  The phrase “Vacation, Get A Tan, Swim Forever, Margarita” can be found on several pieces in a Classic Royale group, along with reversible and black & white-based logo separates. The fittingly named A Girl’s Best Friend group incorporates a photo realistic diamond graphic printed on three suit styles, while the Swim Dream suits feature a snow leopard’s face, a galloping stallion, and allover world map prints over the Wildfox classic one-piece.

Cruise 2013 also presents an assortment of beach towels and both knit and woven cover-ups.  The woven group features a romper, drawstring pant, and both v-neck and button down tunic tops in a featherweight, allover custom star print fabric. Beach-oriented graphic themes and phrases are tied in throughout the modal Soft Sand baby sweater knit dresses, tops, and shorts, as well as in the tissue jersey oversized tees.  The Best Friend beach towel is built for two people and incorporates a reversible yarn dyed jacquard Wildfox Swim logo on either side.  A faded American flag covers the Sun Bleached Flag towel, while the Wildfox Swim towel suggests every vacationer’s dream mantra, “Salty Hair, Coconut Oil, Big Waves, Hot Sun”.

I disagree with exalin - I think the makeup, hair and overall feel of the shoot more than contributed to the concept of a "Bond Girl" and I agree with "anon" that the use of a gun in the shoot was a bit unnecessary and borderline tasteless given the recent shootings (I'm fine with guns in movies, tv, etc but when it comes to glorifying its use... it's slightly disappointing). Sure, it might be "harder" to draw out the 'Bond girl' theme without a gun, but it also doesn't have to be so obvious - there's something to be said for subtlety. That's just my opinion.

However, I will admit that the overall shoot is amazing, and it's always nice to see this brand grow and expand so beautifully over time! Congrats! :)
